Sessions 5, 6

Players: Gante (Jon), Epona (Elizabeth), Glod (Adam), Rakhshanl (Brad), Kerwyn (Will), Durane (Matt), Quarion (Mike), Gwindaldorf (Tammy), Arya (Sashsa), and Chip

5th of Suncrest

After finding a gem in the mountain shrine, Gwindaldorf remembered the gem she found in Sir Hanan’s crypt. The team is sure they’ll need both to open some sort of portal to get to whatever magical item is hidden in the shrine. Unfortunately, Gwindaldorf sold the gem a few days earlier. The shopkeeper tells her that a few merchants came through earlier and bought it. He points them toward the road leading north. The party heads out, hoping to recover the gem. Along the way, they’re ambushed by a band of goblins and hobgoblins lead by a bugbear. They defeat them, save for one goblin, whom they squeeze some information out of. Apparently, the goblinoids have been patrolling the woods, ambushing travelers. They get him to lead the group to their cliff-side hideout, hoping to find the merchants, or at least the gem.

[This adventure was pretty much only to see how much a group of ten people could take. Hopefully, we won’t be doing that again.]

Players: Gante (Jon), Epona (Elizabeth), Glod (Adam), Rakhshanl (Brad), and Kerwyn (Will)

Following the goblin they captured, the team reaches a cave in a cliff face. The opening in blocked by a portcullis. They ask the goblin for more information, but he only tells them he doesn’t know how to open the gate. He speaks loudly, making reference to the number of people that have made it to the cave. Glod sees what’s going on, but the rest of the party doesn’t seem to care. They lift up the heavy iron gate, which locks into place. They walk in and are ambushed by orcs. The battle is tough, but they all make it through. Gante ties the goblin to the gate’s winch. They move toward the next room. Some of the party notice something odd about the room, though. A bit of slime in the corner is actually a gelatinous cube. Rakhshanl charges in to attack, but succumbs to the creature’s paralysis. Gante pulls him out to safety. The team falls back, firing ranged attacks. The goblin attempts to escape, but is absorbed by the cube. A few more arrows and crossbow bolts finishes the creature off. The next chamber holds a suspicious chest and a scorched orc. Kerwyn checks the chest out, finding a nasty fire trap. He disarms it and the team splits the contents. The final room holds a cage housing two humans and a dwarf. Kerwyn gets to work on the lock. While he’s working, three more orcs emerge from a secret room. After finishing them off, they get through the lock and free the prisoners.
